Welcome to Region 1 VA SCAN
Region 1 VA SCAN
(Specialty Care Access Network) is an innovative and transformative
healthcare program developed by the Office of Healthcare
Transformation in cooperation with the Office of Specialty Care and
the Office of Primary Care to treat chronic and complex
diseases
in remote and underserved areas of VISN’s 1 through 4. Through the
use of evolving technology, VA SCAN bridges the gap between urban
healthcare specialists and primary care providers and PACT teams in
remote settings.
VA SCAN is PACT Friendly
Collaboration between
specialists and remote PCPs and PACT teams enable veterans
throughout the VISNs to receive state-of-the-art healthcare from the
professionals they know and trust in their own communities.
For PCPs and
PACT teams, co-management of the often lengthy and involved
treatments brings added depth and technical competencies and reduces
professional isolation. With continued involvement providers become
highly skilled in the treatment of these chronic and complex
diseases, thus creating a center of excellence in their community.
The end result is better quality of care and greater access to
specialty care for all veterans.
